About Tung's Orthodox Acupuncture
-
Dr. Palden Carson

In comparison with other Schools of Acupuncture, The Tung’s School excels them all in that:

1. It can treat almost any ailments in the human body by only applying the needle to its unique point position on the extremities of the body, ears and head.

2. The technique of insertion of the needle is much less involved. It only consists of Slant, Horizontal, Vertical penetrations, shallow or deep under the skin. Slant insertion of the needle is simple and easy, and the desired effect can be thus simply obtained. There is no need to apply the much more complicated method of "Pu" or "Hsieh" which literally means to stimulate or to disperse.

The technique of needle snapping, shaking, turning, and oscillating are not used in the Tung's System, for purpose of avoiding the possibility of causing more tissue damage and undue pain to the patient or fainting when undergoing such treatment.

4. Tung's Acupuncture resort to its unique points which others considered to be "Extra Points" for treatment. If the diagnosis is correct, the point accurately located, and the technique of inserting the needles skillfully applied, the effect of the treatment will be quick and successful. The ailment will be cured in no time, which efficacy; no other school of Acupuncture can surpass.

There are 10 Principles Areas in the Tung's Chart of Human Body, illustrated in the Tung's Acupuncture which indicates a total of 370 points as against the 365 Points stated in all other Acupuncture Charts. These 10 Areas and their relative number of Points are as follows:

The Fingers Area.........Ref. as area 1 - 27
The Palm Area............Ref. as area 2 - 11
The Forearm Area.........Ref. as area 3 - 16
The Arm Area.............Ref. as area 4 - 17
The Sole Area............Ref. as area 5 - 6
The Dorsal Foot Area.....Ref. as area 6 - 15
The Leg area.............Ref. as area 7 - 28
The Thigh Area...........Ref. as area 8 - 32
The Ear Area.............Ref. as area 9 - 8
The Head Area............Ref. as area 10 - 25

In addition to the 10 Principles Areas as described above, there are also Special Areas, namely the Ventral Trunk and Back of the Tung's Chart, which are Bleeding Areas for Micropuncture purpose only, and these two areas are normally bleed with a stainless steel prismatic needle. The fine needles used in Acupuncture are not suitable for application within these Special Areas.
